For those in Titirangi, West Auckland. Check this out! It is going to a fabulous free day. Bring a friend, receive gifts and prizes and donate to a good cause. |

The Connecting 0604 group will be running a one day expo called: The Big Day In on November 20th , 2010 at the Titirangi War Memorial Hall, 500 Titirangi South Road, Titirangi from 10am – 3pm.
This event is giving people who work from home in the Titirangi and surrounding areas the chance to showcase their businesses in an exciting and unique way. We will be setting up the room to look like a lounge creating an informal and relaxing environment whilst still being professional. It is our intention also to create an awareness in the community of our existence as a networking and support group for people who work from home.
The Connecting 0604 is free to join and we offer our members the chance to profile their business for free on this website
The event will be free to the public with lots of giveaways, including ‘not your average goodies bags’ for the first 100 people through the door. We will be running a tombola stall with all proceeds going to an individual deemed to be ‘striving for excellence’ in his or her own life - as recommended to us by the Rotary Club.
Ken Ring is our celebrity guest and will open the Big Day In. Known locally as current longrange weather columnist in local magazine The Titirangi Tatler, Ken has had a long history in the district. He ran a craft shop in the Titirangi village in the late 1960s, and in the 1980s was the founder of the Titirangi Village Market (now run by the Rudolf Steiner School). During the 1990s Ken was a professional school-show magician and local children’s entertainer. With the coming of the internet Ken was able to advance his chief hobby interest, weather prediction. Now he runs www.predictweather.com which supplies forecasts to farmers all over the world, not only NZ and Australia but also Ireland, the Middle East, Europe, and S Africa. The author of 3 almanacs per year, for NZ, Australia and Ireland, Ken is also longrange presenter on Australia’s biggest TV network, Channel Seven, where he appears on screen there once per month across 4 States. According to Ken the weather on 20 November will be fine and sunny.
We are also delighted to have with us on the day one of the youngest people we know to be working from home! Remy Roberts is also known as Remy The Great. At 6 years old Remy is probably the youngest working magician in Australasia. He is a fully-fledged member of the North Shore Junior Magic Society, the admitting membership of which requires an act of a certain standard. Remy charges $30 for a show and is already a seasoned performer. He is available for birthday parties, barmitzvahs, weddings, wakes, festivals, galas, extravaganzas, book fairs, political rallies, Wembley Stadium, etc. Remy will be at the Big Day In with his grandfather, Ken Ring. Remy won’t be hard to spot – just look down.
Exhibitors and guests alike will be entertained throughout the day by Acoustic Candy – a wonderful guitar and vocal duo based in Auckland. Their repertoire consists of cruisy, melodic cover songs that lend themselves to great vocal arrangements - they even throw in a few original songs from time to time.
